Track Sends 13 To Drake Relays

Eastern Illinois track and field will send 13 athletes and five relay teams to compete in the Drake Relays this Thursday through Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. Events for EIU will begin on Thursday with the men's and women's 800m run. The final event for EIU will be on Saturday with the women's distance medley relay. The Panthers will begin on Thursday with Mark Pedziwiatr running the men's 800m and Kristen Paris competing in the women's 800m. EIU will have two athletes competing in multiple events at the Drake Relays. Bryn Buckwalter will compete in the women's discus on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. and the women's shot put on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. For the men Eric Gordon will compete in the javelin on Friday morning at 10 a.m. and return Friday afternoon in the pole vault at 12:30 p.m. The Panthers have two competitors in both the men's and women's steeplechase. Sisters Rachel Garippo and Ruth Garippo will compete in the women's event on Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. The men's steeplechase follows with Riley McInerney and Joe Calio set to compete. Haleigh Knapp and Kendall Williams will compete in field events. Knapp will compete in the women's high jump on Friday at 1 p.m. Knapp was named the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week last week after increasing her school record to 5'10.75". Williams will compete in the men's long jump at 12 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have three additional athletes competing in track events Johnathan Boey will compete in the men's 100m dash on Friday at 12:53 p.m. Anita Saffa will run in the women's 100m dash on Friday at 12:25 p.m. Amina Jackson is set to compete in the women's 400m hurdles on Friday at 11:57 a.m. The two EIU men's relay teams will compete in the 4x100m on Friday morning at 10:58 a.m. and the 4x200m under the lights on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. On the women's side the 4x400m relay team will compete at 2:55 p.m. on Friday. The women's 4x800m race will take place on Friday evening at 7:48 p.m. The distance medley relay closes out EIU's competition at Drake on Saturday at 1 p.m.
