Track Posts 22 First Place Finishes Friday

CHARLESTON, Ill. Eastern Illinois track and field dominated the EIU Twilight Meet on Friday at O'Brien Field on a night the Panthers honored the 16 members of their senior class. EIU posted 22 first place finishes as the Panthers will travel to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships next weekend in Nashville hosted by Tennessee State. Senior Janie Howse set the school record in the women's hammer winning the event with a throw of 171'4". The throw is four inches farther than the previous school record held by EIU Hall of Fame member Kandace Arnold. Chrisford Stevens picked up a pair of wins in the sand jumps winning both the long jump and triple jump. Stevens won the triple jump with a distance of 46'6". His winning distance in the long jump was 22'9.25". Angelica Anyaogu gave the Panthers a sweep in the long jump winning the women's event with a distance of 19'3.25". Her jump ranks seventh on the EIU career list.
