BRENTWOOD, Tenn. As the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships approach Eastern Illinois junior Ruth Garippo was named the OVC Women's Track Athlete of the Week following her performance last weekend at the Drake Relays. Garippo placed 11th in the steeplechase with a season best time of 10:51.95. Her time ranks second in the OVC this season behind her sister Rachel Garippo and is fourth on the EIU career list. Garippo joins sophomore Haleigh Knapp as OVC weekly award winners from EIU this spring. Knapp won back-to-back OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week accolades in late April. EIU returns to action this Friday hosting the EIU Twilight at O'Brien Field. Due to the number of entries the adjusted schedule will now have field events beginning at 11 a.m. and running events at 4 p.m.
