DES MOINES, Iowa Eastern Illinois track and field wrapped up competition at the Drake Relays on Saturday afternoon with two top ten finishes. The men's 4x100m relay team had the highest finish of the weekend for EIU as they placed sixth in the finals on Saturday with a time of 40.96. The relay team included Johnathan Boey, JaMarcus Townsend, Jamal Robinson and Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen. Riley McInerney posted the other top ten finish on Saturday for the Panthers placing eighth in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:10.86. Joe Calio was 15th in the race with a time of 9:26.64. Sisters Ruth Garippo and Rachel Garippo competed in the women's steeplechase. Ruth placed 11th with a time of 10:51.95. Rachel was 16th with a time of 10:59.30. The women's distance medley relay placed 11th at the Drake Relays on Saturday with a time of 11:50.93. Amy Yeoman, Dhiaa Dean, Kristen Paris and Kristen Rohrer made up the relay squad for EIU. Kendall Williams and Bryn Buckwalter completed the Panthers in action on Saturday with Williams finishing 14th in the men's long jump with a leap of 22'01.75" and Buckwalter placing 15th in the women's shot put with a mark of 46'10". EIU returns to action this Friday hosting the EIU Twilight at O'Brien Field.
