Eastern Illinois men's and women's track and field opened the 2014-15 indoor season on Friday (Dec. 5) evening, as the Panthers hosted the annual Early Bird event inside the Lantz Fieldhouse.

The Panther indoor track and field season gets underway on Friday (Dec. 5), as the Eastern Illinois men and women are set to host the annual pre-holiday Early Bird Meet inside the Lantz Fieldhouse. The double-dual meet is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.

Five members of the Eastern Illinois men's and women's track teams were named All Academic by the USTFCCCA. In addition both the EIU men's and women's programs were honored as All-Academic teams.

Eastern Illinois senior pole vaulter Peter Geraghty placed fourth in the event at the US National Championships in Sacramento, Calif.  Geraghty cleared 18'0.50" to place fourth in the championship.  

Eastern Illinois senior pole vaulter Mick Viken has been named a Capital One Second Team Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
